Just plain old COLD!

I've had my fire going regularly for some time now but I must say this morning was the coldest morning for me yet. The stove went out through the night and I didn't bother putting wood in the couple times I was up to pee. The bed was toasty warm and no wonder with me, 3 cats and the dog all snuggled in together...lol. I was hard pressed to even crawl out this morning because I knew it would be freezing. The cats however are very demanding when it comes to breakfast time...lol. No matter if it's pitch black or a bright sunny day, their internal clocks know when it's feeding time. So I bundled up in my fuzzy housecoat and began the business of lighting the fire. The dog waits for me on the bed while I take care of other business first. The cats are strategically perched and staring me down waiting for the sound of the can opener or the pop of a pull tab. And me, well I'm stuffing the stove with cardboard, paper and slabs. I light the paper, leave the glass door cracked open and finally get to the business of feeding those poor starving (joking) cats of mine. There's a mini stampede as I set two different dishes down. Spencer and Saucey always eat together while Shadow prefers to eat alone. By then Squirt is getting anxious to be on the move too. So I grab his harness, give him a cuddle and race him to the door for his morning pee. Trust me, he didn't stay out long, even with his respectable fur coat he found it cold. It's just daylight by the time everything is said and done.

The wood stove was very co-operative this morning and in the early morning darkness the blaze was warm and inviting even if the house was still cold.

Today is my last day of being 59, it's rather depressing. I wonder how many people will read this post to the end? I'm sure there'll be comments from those who do.
