Clapboard art.....

I mentioned on facebook that I was working on a couple of craft projects. Well except for a bit of trim work and figuring out if I want them as a set or left individual, this is pretty much the finished product. Don't expect perfection because they are done on (as the title suggests) clapboard remnants. These pics show the steps although there's really not much to it.

My friend Shirley gave me a couple of pieces of painted clapboard that were kicking around after doing their house over with it. Just little end pieces maybe 10 inches wide.

I started off by sanding them and then just smearing some cape cod blue craft paint across them. I didn't want a solid color so I left them streaky.

The black horse is actually the second one I did. Because it's so striking I think maybe it's best not to display them as a set.

Below is the first one I did, which I thought was lovely and is lovely but maybe not next to the black horse.

Anyway, that's it, a bit of clapboard art. I want to trim the sides in sand and maybe hang them from burlap strips to keep with the rustic feel of the clapboard.

Note: All the fence work is just utilizing the plane marks in the wood. I wasn't going for detail, just pics that are simple yet somewhat appealing.
